Responding to trauma: for frontline and emergency services

This one-day workshop has been designed for frontline staff who may have to support people affected by a traumatic incident - and assesses suitable responses to meet their needs.

The aim of the workshop is to provide you with skills so that you feel confident in supporting individuals who have experienced traumatic events such as terrorist attacks, fires, transport incidents and assault - and how to recognise whether they need referring for further professional help or not.

You will learn about the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and what the recommended treatments are, and explore ways that you can look after yourself when doing this work.

Through a combination of didactic teaching, videos, and group discussion attendees will have the opportunity to think about how they can apply what they’ve learnt to their own practice.
